Laughter is Part of Yoga Too.

These funny drawings are by a practitioner named Boonchu.  You can find more on Facebook or on his site All is Coming.  He has t-shirts too – the perfect gift for your Ashtangi boyfriend/girlfriend, IMO.

I love Boonchu’s drawings – they never fail to crack me up.

Yoga can be such a serious and challenging endeavor, so throwing a bit of laughter in the midst can be a really good thing.  Especially when that laughter is directed towards yourself!  I love those moments in a sweaty, intense Mysore practice when some little funny thing happens, then laughter erupts and the tension in the shala breaks – those times are some of my favorites, and one of the best parts of practice in a group because you really feel solidarity with your fellow practitioners.  It’s good to know that you’re not the only one pushing up against walls and struggling with yourself in your practice.  Laughing with your fellow yogis helps put things in perspective.  Because yoga is not just about the funny shapes we make with our bodies, right?

Just imagine how much easier it will be to lift up and jump back when you take yourself more lightly?
