The past two months have been totally packed with school work and new jobs. Because of this, we haven’t had the chance to get up to the mountains at all and that’s a crying shame because we live in Colorado for goodness sake!
Today, after Thad taught Mysore, we had the whole day free to play. We headed up to the mountains with Artemis to take her on her first real hike. We did a three mile loop in a beautiful area near Conifer. The hike started out in an open meadow and then wound its way up through stands of Aspens and Lodgepoles and Ponderosas.
The wildflowers were spectacular and Artemis loved all the exciting new and unfamiliar smells.
She was not a fan when it started sprinkling on the beginning of our journey as she is terrified of the rain. She made me hold her and then climbed on top of my arms to scope out the storm. This is us in “look-out position.” Luckily, it passed quickly and we were able to continue without any more whining from the pup.
It was such a treat to get up off the plains even for a short little hike today. The rest of our day off was filled with down-time at home (Arrested Development and homemade hummus wraps!), an art museum visit and a First Fridays saunter around the arts district, topped off with a little food truck and ice cream action. Life is sweet.
Hope you have a great weekend!
